Role and context
A helper and laborer plays a key role in supporting daily operations and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. They assist skilled workers by assisting heavy equipment operators, signal operators and miners. The help carrying materials, setting up equipment, and performing basic manual tasks. Helpers and laborers are also responsible for cleaning work areas, moving tools and supplies, and following safety procedures to ensure smooth workflow on job sites.
Salary
21.00 – 25.00 $/h
Required profile
– Some experience as a general construction labourer.
Tasks
– Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
– Assist miners in excavating and in setting up and operating various drills and other surface mining machinery
– Remove snow from work areas
– Assist in drilling and blasting rock at construction sites
– Assist in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
– Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
– Clean trucks, heavy equipment and machinery
– Perform other labouring and elemental activities
– Any other related tasks.
