Hertel Meats Ltd. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented HACCP Coordinator to support our food safety and quality assurance programs at our meat processing facility in Port Alberni, BC.
The HACCP Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining food safety programs, monitoring compliance with HACCP and quality standards, conducting inspections and audits, maintaining documentation, and working with employees and leadership to promote safe and consistent food production practices.

Education
College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
Experience
2 years to less than 3 years of relevant experience.
Work Location
This is an on-site position. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities
The HACCP Coordinator will:
Minimize hazards at all stages of the food production process.
Maintain and continuously improve the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) plan.
Support the development, implementation and maintenance of food safety programs, policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor daily compliance with food safety programs, established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
Conduct plant inspections and audits and document findings and corrective actions.
Monitor product and packaging to ensure established food safety and quality standards are met.
Monitor pre-operational inspection results and coordinate corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
Monitor product temperatures, pH levels and other food safety and quality control measures as required.
Review production and quality records for accuracy and completeness.
Maintain accurate food safety, quality assurance and due diligence documentation.
Investigate food safety and quality concerns and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Train staff and workers in job duties, food safety requirements, safety procedures and company policies.
Prepare production, food safety, quality and other reports.
Recommend measures to improve productivity, food safety and product quality.
Work closely with supervisors and management to ensure food safety and quality control programs are effective.
Assist in developing and updating operational procedures and SOPs.
Maintain traceability and quality control records.
Participate in food safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
