The Centre for Wise Practices in Indigenous Health is an Indigenous-led and staffed centre which focuses on health equity initiatives for Indigenous communities. It is located in the Women’s College Hospital (WCH); an independent academic ambulatory care hospital in Ontario, focusing on women’s health. WCH committed to patient safety, equity, and innovative healthcare. We are seeking a dynamic Indigenous Education and Project Coordinator to support both educational initiatives and project coordination activities within our Women’s College Hospital corporate strategy. This role supports GCWP-IH administratively, enhance the cultural safety education for staff, and contribute to an equitable healthcare experience for all patients.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Educational Coordination:
Develop, implement, and measure Indigenous education programs.
Facilitate educational workshops, training sessions, and events promoting Indigenous knowledge and cultural competency.
Collaborate with community partners and Indigenous leaders to enhance educational content and outreach.
Project Planning and Coordination:
Support strategic alignment on anti-racism, equity, and social accountability initiatives.
Develop and recommend detailed project plans and schedules; monitor and evaluate progress.
Coordinate communication and promotional activities for projects.
Administrative and Analytical Support:
Provide administrative support to ensure the ongoing needs of the department are met.
Conduct research and create analytical reports to support project initiatives.
Maintain project documentation and records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
Communicate project expectations and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Facilitate meetings and discussions with community agencies and project partners.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, Health Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination or a similar role.
Experience with Indigenous education programs and community engagement.
A lived experience and understanding of the cultural beliefs and practices of at least one of the traditional territorial holders of the Toronto area.
Additional Skills & Assests:
Skills in peer-informed documentation an asset;
An established practice of working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous community to support and develop, and implement programs that support and nurture Indigenous knowledge/spaces within Institutions;
Proven ability to engage in participant interactions, which negotiate complex boundaries of self-disclosure;
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools;
Demonstrated commitment to Indigenous equity and cultural safety;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
