Position Summary
Equity Technologies is a Calgary-based security technology and electronic security systems company specializing in the supply, installation, integration, configuration, maintenance and support of CCTV/video surveillance systems, security cameras, electronic security equipment, access-control systems, alarm systems and related security technologies for residential, commercial and institutional clients.
Equity Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Buyer to support the company’s procurement and operational requirements. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing security equipment, technology, supplies, services, and other materials required for the company’s security, electronic security, logistics, and administrative operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with management, operations, technical personnel, and suppliers to identify purchasing requirements, obtain competitive quotations, negotiate terms, place and monitor purchase orders, and ensure that materials and services are obtained on time and in accordance with company specifications and budgets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
l Review purchasing requirements from the operations, technical, security, logistics, and administrative departments and determine appropriate purchasing actions.
l Source security equipment, electronic security products, supplies, tools, uniforms, office supplies, and other materials required for company operations.
l Research and identify qualified suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and service providers in Canada.
l Compare supplier quotations and make purchasing recommendations based on price, quality, availability, delivery requirements, and overall value.
l Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranties, and other purchasing conditions with suppliers.
l Prepare, issue, and maintain purchase orders in accordance with approved company purchasing procedures.
l Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
l Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to resolve shortages, damaged goods, incorrect shipments, backorders, and other purchasing issues.
l Verify that purchased products and materials meet established specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements.
l Maintain accurate purchasing records, including supplier information, quotations, purchase orders, invoices, delivery documentation, and product specifications.
l Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve pricing, quality, delivery, and service.
l Research alternative suppliers and products to reduce procurement costs and minimize supply-chain disruptions.
l Track inventory requirements and coordinate replenishment of frequently used equipment, supplies, and operational materials.
l Coordinate procurement of CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access-control equipment, monitoring equipment, security hardware, communications equipment, and related technical supplies where required.
l Support procurement requirements for construction-site security, patrol operations, event security, loss prevention, camp security, and other operational activities.
l Maintain up-to-date knowledge of supplier markets, product availability, pricing trends, and new security technologies.
l Prepare purchasing reports and provide management with information regarding procurement costs, supplier performance, outstanding orders, and anticipated purchasing requirements.
l Work with accounting personnel to verify invoices, purchase orders, receiving documentation, and supplier statements.
l Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, contractual requirements, applicable legislation, and established approval procedures.
l Perform other procurement and purchasing-related duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
l Post-secondary education in business administration, purchasing, supply chain management, procurement, logistics, or a related discipline is preferred.
l Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, supply-chain coordination, or a related business function.
l Strong negotiation, communication, organization, and analytical skills.
l Ability to compare supplier pricing and specifications and make sound purchasing recommendations.
l Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining procurement records.
l Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers
l 2 year + experience in a procurement and supply chain Management Ability and skill for problem solving
l Ability to multitask
