Role Description The Live-Out Caregiver will provide full-time, on-site support in Thorsby, AB, helping with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, bladder/bowel care, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, medication distribution, and light housekeeping. The role includes monitoring the individual’s well-being, following care plans, and assisting with medication reminders as directed. The caregiver will encourage safe physical activity, social interaction, and engagement in hobbies or appointments, including accompanying the individual to local outings when needed. The position requires clear communication with the individual and their family, documenting changes in health or behaviour, and maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment. The caregiver will work independently, manage time effectively, and respond calmly and responsibly to routine and unexpected situations.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience providing in-home care, support with activities of daily living, and companionship for older adults or individuals with health or mobility challenges.
Knowledge of basic health and safety practices, including safe lifting and transfer techniques, fall prevention, and responding appropriately to minor health concerns.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, show empathy, and build respectful relationships with individuals and families.
Reliable, organized, and able to manage schedules, routines, and household tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and meal planning.
Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment in day-to-day caregiving decisions.
Relevant training or certification in caregiving, health care aide, personal support worker, or similar field is an asset.
Current first aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain, and clear background checks as required.
Comfortable working on-site in Thorsby, AB, with consistent availability for full-time hours and occasional flexibility as needed.
