As a Farm Machinery Operator, you’ll be essential in maintaining vineyard health, supporting seasonal operations, and ensuring our equipment and land are cared for to the highest standards.

Quails’ Gate Winery is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Farm Machinery Operator to support year-round vineyard operations. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, values teamwork, and takes pride in operating and maintaining farm and vineyard equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Machinery Operation
- Operate tractors, ATVs, forklifts, and vineyard-specific machinery
- Perform mowing, mulching, weed control, and under-vine maintenance
- Safely operate sprayers, spreaders, and other application tools
- Support seasonal tasks such as canopy work, harvest operations, and frost protection
- Transport bins, pallets, materials, and equipment across vineyard blocks
Implement & Equipment Use
- Attach, adjust, and operate various implements (mowers, post pounders, blades, sprayers, trailers, etc.)
- Conduct daily start-up and shutdown procedures
- Perform routine inspections and basic upkeep on equipment
Maintenance & Upkeep
- Clean and maintain equipment to ensure longevity and safe operation
- Maintain accurate logs for equipment use, fuel, and maintenance
- Report all repair needs to the management team
Vineyard & Property Support
- Assist with irrigation repairs and general vineyard upkeep as needed
- Support crop protection and vine management tasks throughout the season
- Load/unload materials and support seasonal crews when required
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols
- Ensure safe use of chemicals, PPE, and machinery
- Participate in equipment training and safety briefings
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience operating farm or vineyard machinery
- Strong understanding of tractor and implement use
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs
- Reliable, safety-minded, and team-oriented
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean record
- Forklift certification an asset
- Pesticide Applicator Certificate considered an asset
- Basic farming knowledge, preferably in vineyards
