Internship for Indigenous people

Alberta Indigenous Intern Program (AIIP)

Government of Alberta is running an intern program for those who have experience with indigenous people, indigenous communities or projects. Those who are from indigenous background such as Aboriginals, First Nations, Metis or Inuit communities in Canada has preference for this program.

Duration

Alberta Indigenous Intern Program is 24 months long and is broken down to 3 sections. Interns will spend these 2 years as below.

  • Work in provincial government ministry for the first 6 months
  • Work with Indigenous communities or partners or an agency that serves a large number of indigenous people in Alberta.
  • Work in a provincial ministry for the next 12 months.

Eligibility for Alberta Indigenous Intern Program

This program is not exclusive to the professional from indigenous backgrounds but open to all who meet the below eligibility. Interns applying for this program must have graduated from an accredited university/college in the last 2 years.

Interns must have worked with Indigenous people, communities or programs.

Depending on the specific positions, additional qualifications might be required.
